Biennial Meeting Information

It is time to plan to come back to Tucson for our Tweed Study Course workshop (October 24–26) and the 33rd Biennial Meeting of the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation (October 27–29). Both will be held at tad he Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain.  It is a beautiful resort with ambience and class.  There are many amenities available at the Ritz – spas, golf, hiking, etc., etc.  Your accommodations will be wonderful. Our room rate at the Ritz is $279 plus taxes. This is a wonderful rate – the normal rate if you are not in the room block is $680/night plus all taxes. Please click on the link below or click on Hotel Accommodations in the menu to be directly linked to reservations. Each registrant is responsible only for his/her room charge and taxes. The Foundation Endowment Fund will pay for the GroupCONNECT fee, porterage luggage handling, and room attendant fees.

The pre-meeting workshop will be held October 24 – 26 at the Ritz Carlton. The workshop fee will be $300. This nominal fee includes breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. The Ritz has reserved a block of rooms for the workshop. Those who plan to attend the workshop will need to arrive in Tucson on Sunday, October 23 and book a room at the Ritz Carlton for Sunday night through Saturday night October 29th, the last day of the Biennial meeting.  This pre Biennial Meeting workshop should be enjoyable, fun and very educational. We will use typodonts and have many interesting lectures from our members. We will have some special “Old Wire benders’” tables at the workshop for senior members who want to visit and participate but who have no desire to bend more wires. These members need to check wire bender’s table block on the registration form. All workshop participants who do not check the box will have a typodont and wire prepared and ready for them.

President Jack Mann and Ray Fuqua are organizing a very interesting and dynamic Biennial meeting scientific program.  It will begin on Thursday, October 27 at 3:00 at the Ritz Carlton. On Friday, we will hear from many of our younger members and from Dr. Frans Currier, University of Oklahoma, the L. Levern Merrifield Memorial Lecturer.  Saturday’s lectures will be given by many of our “seasoned” members.

The “model” room will open Thursday morning. All members are encouraged to put their “plaster on the table” and study each other’s case reports.  After the Thursday Examining Committee lunch, committee members will look at case reports for those who desire to become Fellows of the Charles Tweed Foundation.  Case report presentation information for all who seek to become Fellows and all members who are required to bring case reports can be downloaded from the website, www.tweedortho.com.  The model display room will be located near the lecture room and will be open each day from early in the morning until late in the evening.  Lectures will end at approximately 1:00 on Friday so that members can enjoy the camaraderie and the educational experience of the model room or take a hike on one of the many trails that surround the Ritz.  All members are encouraged to bring case reports.  It is our DUTY to do so!

The social schedule is rather simple.  A light breakfast and lunch will be served each day of the meeting.  The lunch and breakfast are open to all participants and their spouses/guests.  There will be a reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres Thursday evening, October 27.  Friday evening is “free” - there is no planned function for Friday evening.  On Saturday evening we will have the President’s Dinner during which we will honor some very special people.

Please DO NOT MISS what promises to be a fun, educational and exciting meeting.  Complete the registration form.  It can be found on the website.  It will also be emailed to you.  If you desire to attend the workshop, please include the workshop fee.  As soon as possible, send a copy of the registration form along with your payment to the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation.  We need to know attendee numbers by mid August.  To make payment, you may enclose a check in the mail with your registration form or pay by credit card on the website.  If paying by credit card, you must still mail your registration form to the Charles Tweed Foundation.  Additionally, make sure to make your hotel reservations with the Ritz Carlton, Dove Mountain before August 31, 2022.
