Dear Tweed Foundation member:
It is time to plan to attend the 32nd Biennial Meeting of the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation. It will be held in Tucson, Arizona, October 25 to 27 at the Westin La Paloma Resort. It is a beautiful resort with ambience and class. Your accommodations will be wonderful. You will need to click Hotel Accommodations to make your reservation.
A pre-meeting workshop will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 23-24 at the Memorial Center. This workshop will focus on two issues - adult interdisciplinary treatment and the extraction/nonextraction dilemma. The first day, Tuesday, October 23 will be devoted to the adult interdisciplinary problem. The second day will be devoted to the extraction/nonextraction issue. This should be a very interesting and interactive workshop that will allow us to discuss with each other some very important facets of orthodontics. The workshop fee will be $150. This nominal fee includes lunch on both Tuesday and Wednesday and dinner at the La Paloma on Tuesday night and Wednesday night. The La Paloma has reserved a block of rooms for the workshop. Those who plan to attend the workshop will need to arrive in Tucson on Monday, October 22 and book a room at the La Paloma for Monday night through Saturday the 27th which is when the meeting will end. Workshop participants must furnish their transportation to and from the La Paloma to the Tweed Memorial Center.
This pre Biennial Meeting workshop should be enjoyable, fun and very educational. Workshop participants are encouraged to bring a case report of a patient who is in treatment and whose treatment is posing a problem. It will be nice to get various opinions about how to proceed with treatment on patients whose treatment has not gone well or patients for whom the treatment plan might need to be altered. If you desire to bring a patient for study by the entire group, please contact Dr. Vaden to receive instructions.
Jack Mann and I are organizing a very interesting SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM which will begin on Thursday, October 25 at 3:15 at the La Paloma. On Friday and Saturday, we will hear from many members as well as from Dr. Steve McCullough who will give the L. Levern Merrifield Memorial Lecture. A light breakfast and a beautiful lunch will be served each day of the meeting. The lunch and breakfast are open to all participants and their spouses/guests. Click on Program Schedule for an overview of the meeting and social events.
The model room will open Thursday morning. Your Board will meet on Thursday morning, so all members who are not on the Board are invited to put their "plaster on the table" and study each other's case reports. After the Thursday Examining Committee lunch, committee members will look at case reports for those who desire to become Fellows of the Charles Tweed Foundation. Case Report Presentation Information for all who seek to become Fellows and all members who bring cases can be downloaded from the website. The model display room will be located near the lecture room and will be open each day from early in the morning until late in the afternoon. The program will end at 3:00 on Friday and Saturday so that members can enjoy the camaraderie and the educational experience of the model room. All members are encouraged to bring case reports. It is our DUTY to do so!
The social schedule is rather simple. There will be a reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres Thursday evening, October 25. Friday evening is "free". There is no planned function for Friday evening. On Saturday evening we will have the President's Dinner Dance during which we will honor some very special people.
Please don't miss what promises to be a fun, educational and exciting meeting. Complete the 32nd Biennial Meeting Registration. If you are attending the workshop, please include the additional fee. Send a copy of the form along with your payment to Jim Vaden's office at your earliest convenience.
